Hank Thysell
Hank served in the US Navy submarine service during the Vietnam War for eight years. Afterwards he served an additional twenty years in the naval reserve, retiring as the Command Senior Chief of the Tucson Reserve Center. Hank worked for Carrier Air Conditioning Company as the branch service manager of the Columbus, Ohio office until he joined the US Border Patrol in 1978. He retired from the Nogales Border Patrol Station as a Senior Patrol Agent in 1998. Hank worked for the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District for fourteen years as a security guard.
Hank has lived in Rio Rico for more than forty three years. He has four biological children ages fifty to fifty-nine. Hank and his wife, Olivia, have been foster parents for twenty foster children. They have adopted five these children and long termed two. Hank has been active with the Santa Cruz County Humane Society, the American Red Cross, the Knights of Pythias, Cardinals Football, Youth Hoops, Rio Rico Schools’ booster clubs and site councils, and the Santa Cruz County Animal Control Advisory Board.
